The intersection of N. Borthwick and N. Killingsworth Court just got a lot brighter. A street art project named The Big Bang of Peace was completed by STRYVE participants, community and faith partners in the Albina-Killingsworth neighborhood. Antwoine Thomas, a local artist who helped create a mural at the Rosewood Initiative at 162nd and Stark, has helped the young designers finalize the project.

Over three days, the design began to emerge and more neighbors and partners stopped by. Youth were inspired by visits from County Commissioner Loretta Smith and Portland Mayor Charlie Hales. Over 100 people contributed by painting the intersection and through local news coverage, many others stopped by to see the project develop.
This project was planned in partnership with the Portland Bureau of Transportation, City Repair, Portland OIC, and the Piedmont Church of Christ. Big thanks to Pro Photo Supply for helping to document the process and providing equipment to perform time lapse and aerial photography.
