STRYVE 

LITTLE FREE LIBRARIES​

Over the summer, STRYVE is building 150 “Little Free Libraries” where community members can share their favorite books. This project encourages community members to create connections with neighbors while strengthening life-long literacy.  Libraries will be individualized with artwork that represents the participating communities.

 

ADX, a Portland-based fabrication shop and learning center; Constructing Hope, a pre-apprenticeship training program focusing on the trades; and The Rebuilding Center, a non-profit, used building materials resource center will work with STRYVE youth to assemble and paint the libraries that will collectively house the nearly 4,000 books donated this summer through the Children's Book Bank.

This project is supported by ADX, Mr. Plywood, Constructing Hope, the Rebuilding Center, the Children's Book Bank, and the Multnomah County Library System who is celebrating their 150th birthday this year!  We would not be able to complete this project without the support of Multnomah County Commissioner Loretta Smith and the SummerWorks program.

 

Construction of STRYVE libraries will occur from July 28 - August 1 and hosts can pick up their library at National Night Out events during the first week of August.
